The Great Big Green Week

The Great Big Green Week is the UK’s biggest celebration of community action to tackle climate change and protect nature, and takes place from 7th – 15th June 2025.

Here we share Petersfield Climate Action Network‘s plan of Green Week Action. Petersfield Climate Action Network is an environmental charity aiming to help local communities reduce their carbon emissions and protect nature.

You can enjoy the beautiful South Downs responsibly with us here at the brewery; cyclists, walkers and furry friends are all welcome. Our friendly destination experience brewery tap stocks lovely local beer, cider, gins, wine, pizza and sweet treats!

Petersfield Climate Action Network say – “Join us for Great Big Green Week. Taking action to ‘swap together for good’ shows our support for a safer, greener, fairer future. We have a whole host of events for you to get involved with – from nature recovery work parties, walks, a home energy event, a picnic – to a toy swap – there is something for all ages and interests.”

On Saturday 7th June at 2pm they will collaborate with Eco Rother Action on a Himalayan balsam removal work party at Goodyer Meadows. This pretty but non-native invasive species (INNS) is taking over the habitat of our native plants, crowding them out and creating competition for pollinating insects. On Saturday 14th June the Toy Swap returns to the Petersfield Library. If you have preloved toys to swap, please deposit them at the library (during opening hours) until Friday 13th June and take your token, then return to the Children’s Library upstairs between 9.30-11.30am on the 14th, to select something in exchange. As The Great Big Green Week recommends, ‘Let’s swap together, for good’. Find out more.

On Thursday 12th there is a glorious Potluck Plant-based Picnic at Petersfield Physic Garden. Please bring a plant-based dish to share with others, add your contribution to the table, then join a guided walkabout where we will highlight some of our wonderful and immensely valuable plants. All you need bring is a sharing dish and something to drink. It will be a complete potluck. This free, community-focussed event will be a celebration of plants – particularly the delicious ones – but medicinal and beautiful flora too. Space is limited so please book your place here.
