Our NZ IPA (4.3% ABV) is brewing and is now available to reserve.

Sit back beer lovers. This mellow IPA is for lazy sunny days in the garden. Pour yourself a New Zealand IPA after mowing your lawn, and relish this refreshing thirst-quenching sessionable drop.

Brewed with three New Zealand hops – Wakatu, Rakau and Kohatu – you may not be able to pronounce them, but you can certainly taste what they have to offer. Bursting with apricot, lime and crushed pine these hops give you a taste of summer, even if the weather is taking a minute to catch up.

With a balanced malt base using our old friends Maris Otter and Crystal we have added a touch of wheat to give you a breezy whip to crown your pint. Smack your lips together as you wipe the foam from your top lip and, as they say in New Zealand, “Chur!”

A plea from the trees – how you can help…

Here at Langham Brewery we like to do our bit to help nature.

There is plenty of it around us in Lodsworth, particularly the many beautiful and varied woodlands of the Cowdray Estate that are perfect for walks and cycle rides from the brewery. However, did you know that our trees are currently under attack? 

You might have heard of Ash Dieback, but as you can read below, this is just one of many threats facing our trees. However, fortunately, it is not all doom and gloom.

Pests and diseases have been stopped in their tracks before, and with a little more understanding, with some small behavioural changes and possibly a little citizen science, we can help our trees fight back. To learn more about the problem and what you can do to help, please click on the link below.

If you have an interest in conservation, you might also like to participate in a citizen science project which Andy mentioned called Observatree. Observatree is a tree pest and disease resource website, where you can learn how to identify both the pests and evidence of their activity.

It is connected to a second website, Tree Alert, where you can record signs of tree ill-health you observe on walks. Scientists review this information and follow up, if necessary. The idea is simple. The more eyes out spotting threats, the quicker experts can get on top of them. Simple observations like this can really make a big difference. Back in 2012 the Asian Longhorn Beetle was spotted in Kent. A rapid eradication programme fortunately succeeded in removing them from our shores, but we must remain vigilant.

All walkers care deeply about the countryside. Nature connection is one of the main pleasures of walking. So, the next time you go for a walk somewhere new, do give your boots a quick wash first. Simply think of it as paying it forward to nature and following government guidance on biosecurity.

We have a job vacancy for a Brewery Retail & Green Tourism Manager.

We are an independent, award-winning microbrewery with a small, dedicated team of staff. We have an ‘all hands to the deck’ approach, particularly amongst the directors and brewery manager.

The role of Retail & Green Tourism Manager would be part of this close-knit team and involves
close communication with the Directors and the Head Brewer/Brewery Manager, an understanding and willingness to discover all aspects of our brewing business (and the industry as a whole), applying this knowledge to the organisation and development of the business, ensuring its ongoing wellbeing, profitability and future success.

Including:

Managing the brewery tasting room, including staffing; stock management; till management and cash control (via POS).

Maximising and developing Green Tourism initiatives and maintaining existing accreditations to establish the brewery and tap as the “go to” experience for visitors as the Green Tourism destination for South Downs and beyond.

Marketing and social media support, working with our external social media professional and director to create digital content.

Using brewery production software – training is provided.

Overview of brewery sales, improving and, where necessary, introducing systems for better communication (staff and customers), feedback and increase market share. Liaising with sales representative and maximizing sales opportunities.

Customer account management and credit control working, with our external company bookkeeper.

Managing the office. Friendly telephone manner, computer literacy with basic skills of Microsoft office and excel required and confidence and willingness to learn other software, e.g. CANVA, helpful.

Managing the website retail operations including online shop and trade portal.

Working closely with the brewery manager to understand the scope of his role and where appropriate to assist in day to day tasks to ensure the more efficient running of the brewery.

Assisting the brewery manager with housekeeping/maintenance of the brewery premises and its equipment – SALSA and Health and Safety etc.

Assisting the brewery manager with staff management, with special emphasis on the tasting room and the sales team.
