Introducing Rob Harris.
Rob is our newest team member here at the brewery. Please join us in extending a very warm welcome to him. Rob supports our brewers in the brew house, neatly crossing between the important tasks of producing, racking and delivering ale, as well as serving beers in the Taproom and at numerous events across the region.
Find out more about Rob via our friendly Q&A, then do pop by our Brewery Shop and Taproom to say hello.
Q: What was your route into brewery work?
Langham brewery was my happy place during lockdown 1. I pestered Bex and Sal regularly with take-away demands and grinded them down until they had no option but to involve me in the taproom when it opened in April. Lovely Lesley and James were then just stuck with me!
Q: What does a typical pre/during/post brewery day look like for you?
My day is mostly spent clocking up steps on my smart watch running between the taproom and brewery pouring take away beers, stocking up and doing the best part of my role-serving and chatting with our lovely customers. In the brewery at the moment I mainly clean Sal & Fran’s wellies and looking forward to learning the processes in the New Year! At the end of the day it’s feet up with the dog.
Q: Are you a local lad? Were you brought up in the area?
I was brought up in Woking, Surrey, then lived in London for 10 years and my husband and I then made the big decision to move to Heyshott in Midhurst during the height of the pandemic. Best decision we’ve made.
Q: Who do you look up to and why? This could be a brewer, a musician, an entrepreneur, your partner.
I constantly look up to my Grandad who’s very sadly no longer with us. A man who found the good in everyone and met every challenge with a positive spin. He would have loved to have known I now work at a brewery just up the road from our new house in the countryside.
Q: Please tell us one thing not many people know about you.
I was in panto with Bobby Davro and Melinda Messenger. Oh yes I was!
Q: Have you ever tried home brewing?
No. I just drink the stuff.
Q: What was the first record you bought?
Bros! Cat amongst the pigeons (hides behind the sofa).
Q: What’s your favourite snack to enjoy with a pint?
Q: What’s been the most memorable time of your career to date?
Reporting from Iraq in 2007 during my broadcasting career.
Q: Which is your favourite Langham beer and why?
Rocket Juice. It’s just beautiful to look at and wholesome to taste. My fav fruity number (apart from Sal!).
Q: What can we expect at the Brewery Taproom when you’re serving the brews?
A bad sense of humour, passion for beer and always ready to put the world to rights.
And finally, describe your life’s journey so far, in 5 words.
Unpredictable, lucky, laughter filled fun
