SUMMARY:Yellow Moon Festival
DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to host the very first Yellow Moon Festival – featuring Americana\, Bluegrass\, Folk and Old Time – here at the brewery on Saturday 16th August.\nExpect our usual relaxed style; a fabulous atmosphere\, wonderful live music\, a well-stocked\, award-winning bar and delicious\, fresh street food.\nFeatured artists:\nThe Vanguards are a five-piece traditional bluegrass band; their high lonesome three-part harmonies and instrumental prowess brings a taste of the hard-driving early years of this acoustic offspring of country music. As well as performing masterful interpretations of bluegrass classics\, they write and perform wholly original music which evokes the sound and feel of bluegrass music’s pioneers.\nJonas And Jane BBC Folk Award nominated Charlie Jonas and Katherine Jane are a captivating songwriting harmony duo performing original music influenced by bluegrass and Old Time. They have released three records and toured extensively across the US and UK\, featuring appearances at prestigious events such as the Cambridge Folk Festival\, CarFest (following a live performance on the Chris Evans BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show)\, Didmarton Bluegrass Festival\, and Crossover Festival.\nJack Pout is a BBC Folk award nominated singer/songwriter from Norwich\, based in Brighton. Inspired by the revivalist musicians of the 60’s and 70’s\, such as John Martyn\, Duster Bennett\, Bob Dylan and Chris Smither.\nKB Bayley is a songwriter and lap steel guitar player whose songs and sound reveal his influences: Americana and the Laurel Canyon era; traditional fingerstyle folk; and contemporary troubadours like John Moreland\, Kelly Joe Phelps\, Gretchen Peters\, Jeff Foucault and Patty Griffin.\nGuildford Bluegrass Band perform bluegrass standards\, drawing inspiration from the 70s and 80s bluegrass bands and on the collective experience of members active in other musical projects.\nFlint County are a bluegrass band based in Brighton who’s dobro player was chosen to perform on the international stage in North Carolina at the IBMA World of Bluegrass and will perform at The European World of Bluegrass 2025.\nThe Hogs Back String Band brings the sounds of Appalachian string bands. Their music features a driving and harmonious blend of clawhammer banjo\, fiddle\, guitar\, mandolin\, and bass\, delivering an authentic and energetic old-time experience.\nWe’ll be collecting for the Friends Of The South Downs and the South Downs National Park‘s ‘Help Nature to Renature’ and other similar projects which safeguard our wonderful landscape.\nEarly bird tickets for Yellow Moon Festival are now on sale.\nEnjoy the event here at Langham Brewery on Saturday 16th August – Live At Langhams 2025 – from 1pm until 10pm. Discover more local events we’re involved with via our Events Calendar.

SUMMARY:Brews And Blooms Guided Walk
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Brews And Blooms guided walk – you’ll be in the capable hands of our friends at Rural Strides.\nDate: Friday 16th May\nStart: Langham Brewery\, Langham Lane\, Lodsworth\, GU28 9BU\nStart Time: 10.00am\nDistance: Approx 7 miles (there is an option for a shorter walk)\nTerrain: Undulating\, not challenging\nThis is a special linear walk from the brewery – we start by taking the No.1 bus from Midhurst to Worthing\, travelling only as far as Fittleworth. We dare not go any further – Fittleworth sits right on the border of the Western Weald\, and who knows what might happen if we crossed it! Our actual destination is Fittleworth House and Gardens\, just a short walk from the bus stop.\nFittleworth House is a privately owned Georgian estate\, set within beautifully landscaped gardens that blend formal planting with ancient trees and wildflower meadows. Typically open to the public each summer as part of the National Garden Scheme\, the gardens provide a peaceful retreat with breathtaking countryside views – a true hidden gem for nature lovers and history enthusiasts alike. However\, on Friday\, 16th May\, we’ll have the privilege of enjoying this tranquil space all to ourselves.\nAfter lunch\, we begin our walk back to the brewery\, crossing open fields\, descending sunken lanes\, passing spring-fed ponds\, and winding through the charming villages of Little Bognor and Byworth. Our route into historic Petworth also follows the rim of the Shimmings Valley\, which offers a stunning view.\nThis section of the walk is 3.5 miles. In Petworth you have the option to catch the bus back to the brewery or continue on foot. For those keen to extend the adventure\, a further 4-mile route leads through the sweeping landscape of Petworth Park and Upperton Common\, before eventually returning to Lodsworth.\nHowever you choose to end your journey\, one thing is certain – a well-earned Langham beer will be waiting for you!\nAdditional costs: £5 NGS fee for the garden (cash/card on the day) and a bus ticket (£3 one way).\nFind tickets and further info here: Rural Strides.\nDiscover more events which we’re invovled with in our local area: Langham Events Calendar.

SUMMARY:Follow The Swallow Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join us on our Follow the Swallow walk.\nJoin Rural Strides on a morning guided walk through the South Downs National Park\, with the wonderful discovery of local birds along the route.\nMalinka from Rural Strides says\, “as you may know\, Langham Brewery’s social media hashtag is #FollowTheSwallow. However\, did you know that the swallow flies back to the UK in April and the 15th is traditionally known as Swallow Day in England? With all these coincidences happening around the same weekend as a brewery tour and tasting event\, how could we resist organising a bird themed walk from the brewery.\nThe swallow isn’t the only bird to make its reappearance in April. Tradition has it that the Cuckoo sings from St Tiburtius’ Day (14 April). With climate change perhaps they will be ahead of schedule this year. We can also hopefully expect to find some warblers along with UK staples such as blackbirds\, robins\, thrushes\, wrens\, skylarks\, woodpeckers and members of the tit & finch families.\nThis walk has been designed to take in lots of different bird habitat – a variety of woodland\, common\, open farmland\, hedgerows and semi-marsh/osier beds. With the trees not yet in full leaf there will hopefully be a better chance of seeing birds than later in the spring/summer. Bring a pair of binoculars if you wish\, but the most important tool for the job will be your ears….and possibly the wonderful Merlin Bird ID app. If you haven’t already come across this\, it is definitely worth downloading in advance.\nTo avoid disappointment\, please be aware that I don’t profess to be an expert twitcher! I am a bird enthusiast come twitcher in training!”\nRural Strides\nRural Strides is passionate about the history and cultural landscape of the Western Weald. Through engaging walks\, which interpret the land and share local stories\, we seek to connect people to the beauty of the area as well as the inspiring businesses that we partner. We hope you will find a Rural Strides walk an authentic and memorable experience\, that will leave you feeling like a local!\nMalinka continues\, “You could say walking is a bit of an obsession\, but it is a passion that I love to share. Guiding you around the Western Weald is not just about showing you the way\, but enhancing your experience of this area every step of the way. A walk with Rural Strides is a way to piece together the interwoven stories of local history; connect with nature; as well as a means to find peace of mind in the great outdoors”.\nTickets on sale via Eventbrite.\nDiscover more via our Walk\, Cycle\, Stay page.\nFollow the Swallow walk.
