Bonkers? Yes… For Conkers!
We’re reaching out to all serious sports men, women, families, children (and their dogs) to join our annual daredevil contest of skill and danger.
Our much-loved, well-supported annual conker competition began life in 2007; this year marks the event’s 11th birthday. Join us at our beautiful ‘brewery in a barn’ on the Cowdray Estate – on Sunday 14th October.
It’s free to come along, but please give generously, as we’ll be collecting for Chestnut Tree House Hospice Care Sussex.
This year is going to be very special as it is Chestnut Tree House Hospice’s 15th birthday. October will formally be known as Conktober and Squirrel Nutkin will be hosting a range of conker-themed charity events, including Langhams 11th Annual Bonkers for Conkers Championships on 14th October.
There will be 2 competitions to find the junior (8 to 15 years) and senior conker champions of 2018.
World championship rules apply… and all conkers are provided by the organisers (so no cheating!). This is serious (& very fun) stuff!
Players can register to play conkers online.

It’s just £2.50 to play.
There will also be (of course!) an excellent bar with 13 of our award winning ales available. Throughout the afternoon, the crowd will be musically entertained with excellent music, plus there will be ‘Bonkers for Bangers’ – a South African Braai with tasty sizzling sausages. Also, expect fabulous stalls; the talented and crafty Corn Dolly King, truly tasty chocolatiers Noble and Stace Chocolatiers, hand crafted walking sticks from Stan The Stickman – plus gifts, tombola, face painting, cake decorating, games, mini steam engine rides, jumbo quoits, teas, cakes and more…
So… who will win the coveted Langham Cup or get their name on the treasured junior trophy shield?
Musical/entertainment line up for the event:
1.15pm Victory Morris Dancers – vibrant and rather wonderful!
2pm & 4pm Yukon Bass – Yukon Bass are a three piece ukulele band performing harmony laden covers of the best music from the last half century!
3pm & 5pm – Happy Days – Six players (a mix of adult and children) playing tenor, alto and baritone saxophones, two trumpets, trombone and drums.
