WELCOME TO OUR MICRO-BREWERY

OUR ETHOS –OUR COMMUNITY-OUR COUNTRYSIDE

Based in an 18th century granary barn in the picturesque village of Lodsworth on the Cowdray estate, Langham Brewery nestles in the beautiful South Downs National Park between the historic market towns of Midhurst and Petworth on the A272. We love our home in the countryside and we pride ourselves on being part of our local community and use our micro-brewery to support a variety of organisations which work for the benefit of the people and landscape in this beautiful area. In October 2017 we were named as the first corporate partner of the Southdowns National Park Trust. We’re thrilled to be collaborating with the trust to raise awareness of the fabulous environment that surrounds us, and to lead the way in raising funds to conserve the much-loved South Downs for future generations.

Environmental nice to knows

Water Beer is 90% water. We are so lucky that our water source is an aquifer through green sand at the entrance to the brewery. Our water is consistent and pure needing little burtonisation. Our steam-heated brewing process recirculates and recycles the water to other brewing uses to maximise efficiency and minimise waste.

Malt Our spent malt and hops are collected by a friendly local farmer to feed his cattle. Please do contact us to purchase some of Rob’s well Rotted Manure.

Hops and Yeast We have worked with Charles Faram, England’s oldest hop supplier, for 15 years. We are pleased that they have a strong transparent environmental policy which they are always looking to improve and develop.

    OUR BEERS

THE HISTORY

Langham Brewery was founded in 2005 by two good friends, James Berrow and Steve Mansley. They had home brewed real ale in James’ garage to great acclaim for over 25 years and in 2003 decided it was time to progress to commercial brewing. They were joined in the venture by Lesley Foulkes, James’ partner whose business background completed the skill set.

A 10 barrel plant was lovingly refurbished and with the support of the Cowdray Estate, who converted a superb 18th century granary barn for the purpose and by spring 2006, Langham Brewery was ready to brew.

Steve Mansley retired in 2013, and the brewery continues from strength to strength, winning 46 awards to date.

The micro-brewery offers a wide variety of different ales in cask, keg, can and bottle.

Awards include SIBA overall cask ale champion of SE England in 2017 and winning brewery 2015 and 2017 Sussex Food and Drink Awards.

In 2015, Langham was one of the first 4 breweries in England to gain a Cask Marque and the SALSA plus Beer accreditation for its quality brewing processes and performance.

Our small friendly brewery team is now 4 strong and always ready to share their passion and know-how about our tasty brews.
