Cask conditioned ales – we salute you!

We’ve been brewing flavourful award-winning cask conditioned beer consistently for 20 years, and to much acclaim

While stored in a cellar, the beer inside a cask develops its character, or “condition”, thanks to the presence of live yeast in the beer. It is then served without the injection of carbon dioxide gas. This additional maturation adds elegance to the beer’s character, while the absence of gas injection makes its carbonation gentler.

So, here’s a big cheers to some of our best selling cask conditioned ales – Hip Hop, South Downs Best Bitter, Aegir, Arapaho, Session Bitter, Session IPA, Sundowner and more. We brew over 20 artful ales, with a style and ABV to suit every taste.

We’ve offered consistent, honest brewing to quality standards for 20 years, and our beers taste great in keg, can and bottle too.

If you love beer, this is the perfect way to spend your spring and summer.

Learn about creating a cracking pint and how to serve it to our guests, participate in summer events – on and offsite – including beer festivals, live music events and more.

Shifts will be offered from April and increase in frequency as we enter the summer season.

Job role includes:
Pulling pints and serving snacks, this includes cooking and serving pizzas (training provided)
Restock bar inventory and supplies
Comply with food and beverage regulations
Check customers identification and confirm it meets legal drinking age.
Following taproom operation guides
Assess customers’ needs and preferences and make recommendations
Stay guest focused and create an excellent guest experience
Represent the brewery at offsite events

Must haves:
Love beer with some knowledge of different beer styles
Sense of humour
Experience in the hospitality and/or customer service would be great, but not essential
Don’t panic if you’ve never done it/ you’re a little rusty full training is provided
Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
Team players who is willing to get stuck in where is needed and able to work independently when required
Ability to keep the tasting room organized, stocked and clean
Flexibility in working patterns and times this includes Saturdays
Ideally able to drive and have use of your own vehicle
A pair of comfortable shoes are essential!

Celebrating this good news from the South Downs National Park Trust, via their recently published video.

And we love that we’ve helped in some small way with the fund raising for the Trust’s valuable work.
Over the past few years, together, with the help of our wonderful customers and event-goers, we have donated almost £10,000 to the South Downs National Park Trust.
You can view our events calendar, and come along to future events which will raise more funds to help conserve our wonderful local landscape for future generations.

Together, we’ve specifically supported the Beelines and ReNature Projects.

Beelines works with landowners and other partners, with specialist advice from the conservation charity PlantLife, to create wildflower corridors across downland, linking species rich chalk grassland to sites which are in need of pollination.  

Why do we need to ReNature the South Downs?

The South Downs National Park is home to some incredibly beautiful and rare habitats and wildlife.
The chalk grassland has up to 40 species in one square metre and our lowland heath is rarer than rainforest and home to all of our native reptiles and amphibians.
Even here, nature is under pressure, and it needs our help.
Currently 25% of the South Downs National Park is managed for nature. Together, with the South Downs National Park Authority, the Trust want to increase this to 33% by 2030!
That’s an extra 13,000 hectares, the equivalent of around 21,000 new football pitches.
