We have a brewery job vacancy: Part Time Taproom and Brewery Assistant. Please come and work with us!
We are looking for someone to join our busy, independent microbrewery in the heart of the South Downs. Initially the role will be permanent, part time on Friday and Saturday, and it may expand to full time for the right person. This job requires someone who is flexible in working patterns and comfortable working across many aspects of the business to support the team. The role is primarily based in the Taproom and there are also opportunities to be involved in our events – on and offsite – as well as office
support and working within the brewhouse.
Working Hours are Friday 11am to 8pm and Saturday 11am – 6pm.
Extra shifts will be available on an ad hoc basis.
Main Responsibilities
Lead the taproom operation and support the brewery administrative work on Friday’s and Saturday’s.
Interact with customers, take orders, and serve pizza, snacks and drinks.
Assess customers’ needs and preferences and make recommendations.
Check customers’ identification and confirm it meets legal drinking age.
Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies liaising with brewery managers.
Responsible for maintaining hygiene standards in the taproom, including kitchen, store room,
cellar and bathroom.
Support the work of the Retail Business Manager answering phone calls, emails and requests from pub trade customers and retail customers.
Competently use the brewery software to place orders and stock keep. Training will be provided.
Work with the brewery team to deliver business targets and objectives and attend monthly
staff meeting, which may be outside of working hours.
Stay guest focused and create an excellent guest experience.
Requirements
A love of beer! Some knowledge of different beer styles.
Experience in cellaring and beer serving is a bonus but training will be provided.
Experience in hospitality and/or customer service.
Competent in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Positive attitude and excellent communication skills.
Strong team skills but able to work independently when required.
Ability to keep the tasting room organised, stocked and clean, and identify areas for improvement.
Ideally able to drive and have use of your own vehicle.
Additional duties subject to applicant
Full UK Driving licence is a bonus should the brewery need drayman support on an ad hoc basis.

Are we still Bonkers? Yes… For Conkers! Welcome to Bonkers For Conkers 2022.
We are reaching out to all serious sports men, women, families, children (and their dogs) to be part of our annual daredevil contest of skill and danger: Bonkers For Conkers.
Join the event at the beautiful ‘brewery in a barn’ on the Cowdray Estate, on Sunday 9th October 2022 from 1pm – 6.30pm.
There will be 2 competitions to find the junior (8 to 15 years) and senior conker champions of 2022.
World championship rules apply… and all conkers are provided by the organisers. This is serious (& very fun) stuff!
There will also be (of course!) an excellent bar with our award winning ales, live music from Wavy Davy, dancing from Victory Morris, fabulous stalls, plus gifts, tombola, face painting, cake decorating and more.
It’s free to come along to the event, but please give generously, as we’ll be collecting for Chestnut Tree House Hospice Care Sussex.
So… who will win the coveted Langham Cup or get their name on the treasured junior trophy shield? Good luck (and be Bonkers For Conkers) one and all!
